Installing Wainscotting Decorative Molding Tutorial Part 7 of 9

How to build and install wainscotting constructed from decorative molding

Installing the virtual wainscoting panels (Picture Frames) - Building the decorative molding squares.

Cut 8 18" frame pieces - We're doing 8 because it's always good to keep one reference bar. Follow the approach outlined above with one exception. Instead of using the ruler to determine the length of each section, we're going to use or reference sections.

Plug in your hot glue gun and cut 8 20" frame pieces. Assuming that you have cut all the pieces for your frames it is now time to put them all together.

Step 1) Hopefully the glue is hot now, so take one 18" section and one 20" section from the pile. Do a test fit of the joint by placing it in the framing square. If everything looks good apply hot glue to the joint proceed to the next step.

Step 2) hold the two pieces together inside the framing square. Depending on your choice of hot glue you may have to wait approximately 10-20 seconds.

Step 3) rotate the frame and place a new joint in the corner. Apply hot glue to the end of the frame segment and hold the joints together in the frame. Ensure that you apply hot glue to a frame segment that matches the length of the opposite segment.
